The defending state championship Saint Joseph Volleyball Team are looking to continue wreaking havoc in Central Jersey and beyond. 

Led by head coach Miguel Cabrita ‘91, Saint Joe’s enters the season as the No. 10 ranked team in the Northeast by USA Today.

The Falcons will employ a younger squad than previous years, with a mix of returning veterans and new players entering the fold. 

Noah Stout ‘24, Johan Vaidyan ‘24, Shlok Patel ‘24 and JP Farrelly ‘24 are the lone seniors in the mix. They will be joined by Sam Contursi ‘25, Gian Gomez ‘25, Michael Marcassoli ‘25, Dean Buckley ‘25 and Carter Tarpley ‘26 as the go-to returning options for Coach Cabrita’s squad. Varsity newcomer Dominic Nycz ‘26 is also expected to see time on the floor.

Saint Joe’s dominated on the court last year, winning 21 matches. After falling to Old Bridge in the Greater Middlesex Conference championship, the Falcons went on a 5-game winning streak to take home the NJSIAA Group 2 championship. The squad finished the season No. 5 in the state.  

Scott Schmitt ‘23 was named New Jersey First Team, All-State following a dominating season that included 353 kills, 183 digs, 106 blocks and 49 aces.
