Chess Team & Club
The Chess Club teaches students the strategies and tactics of chess and how to apply them in chess matches. Students play each other in chess matches and a ranking system evolves.

The top 10 players in the Club qualify for the Chess Team, which competes against over 25 other teams in the Shore High School Chess League.  Saint Joe’s is one of only several schools in the state that offers chess as an academic course.

Our Chess Team has won the NJ State Championship three times, and finished as the 10th best team in the country in the 2000 National Tournament in Charlotte, NC.

The Chess Club meets on Wednesdays after school in room 118 and is open to all interested students.
