The Saint Joe’s bowling team had their backs against the wall on Wednesday in the Greater Middlesex Conference Team Tournament championship match against Woodbridge.
With the match tied 1-1 and the Falcons trailing late in the third game, the team dug deep into their almost two year run of success to pull off a remarkable comeback to win the tournament for the second straight year.
Kai Strothers ‘26 led the way with a 695 series, while Devon Kiessling ‘24 and William Cunningham ‘26 each bowled 679 series.
The Falcons dropped the first game of the match by a mere three pins, 1126-1123, losing just their second game of the season. Saint Joe’s dominated the second game to even the score as Cunnigham bowled a match-high 269.
After the Barrons took an early lead in game three, a strong final three frames from Saint Joe’s paved the way to the title.
Joey Lamoreaux ‘27 contributed to the championship with a 654 series, while EJ Chin ‘24 rolled a 636 and Josh Lamoreaux ‘27 threw a 578.
Saint Joe’s defense of the NJSIAA Group 2 title begins next week with the first round of the state team tournament on February 14.
