METUCHEN, NJ – Saint Joseph students and Partners in Mission came together to raise over $34,000 in support of Covenant House NJ during the annual Tent City “Sleep Out."
Keeping the annual tradition going, attendees were required to raise $300 individually to participate. The Falcons put together a total of $34,696, assisting Covenant House NJ's mission to keep doors open for the thousands who go to them seeking shelter each year.
Hosted by the Saint Joseph Campus Ministry, students spent the evening outside the comfort of their homes sleeping in tents on Brenner Family Field.
Formerly known as Cardboard City, Tent City resembles a realistic experience of sleeping outside for the night, supporting the 4.2 million young people who experience homelessness each year.
Covenant House is a non-profit organization that extends aid to homeless youth who have nowhere else to go. They organize sleep outs in solidarity for those people they serve. The money raised through the sleep out funds vital services like medical care, legal assistance, education opportunities, training for the workforce, and therapy services.
Saint Joe’s looks forward to partnering with Covenant House again next year to support the mission of protecting homeless youth.
