The string of strong defensive performances from the Saint Joseph Soccer team continued during the team’s non-conference match against the Shore Conference’s No. 5 Toms River North on Saturday.

Entering the match with a six game winning streak, including a remarkable five shutouts, the Falcons blanked the Mariners, 1-0, moving to 7-1-1 on the season.

Goalkeeper Robert Boyke ‘25 made five saves in the match, earning his second victory in as many tries.

The match’s lone goal came in the second half Noah Charnecky ‘27 on a feed from Joseph Marinello ‘26. The duo lead the team in scoring, with four goals a piece. The assist was Marinello’s first of the season.

The Saint Joseph Soccer team is currently ranked No. 1 in the Greater Middlesex Conference, according to NJ.com. The Falcons visit Woodbridge on Tuesday night in their second Group Play match of the GMC World Cup. Saint Joe’s is 1-0 in the tournament following a 3-1 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas last week.
