HERSHEY, PA - The Saint Joseph Model United Nations delegation had a strong showing at the 2025 YMCA Model UN Conference in early January, taking home several awards for the team.

Conference member Aiden DaSilva ‘26 earned the prestigious invite to attend the Conference on National Affairs (CONA) in North Carolina this summer. This week-long conference unites delegates from throughout the United States to expand upon ideas presented at regional events.

Former CONA delegate and Model UN club leader Gurkeerat Singh ‘25 said CONA had a major impact on his high school experience.

“During my time at CONA, I was able to debate food additive regulation, which is something I’m really passionate about,” Singh said. “But more importantly I was able to meet some of my now closest friends.”

Luke McCabe ‘26 earned a CONA reserve spot in addition to the Premier Delegate title. He passed two bills during his first day which included topics of nation building.

Other accolades include Santino Oliveti ‘26, who was honored with a Model UN Officer position. Freshman Aarav Shah made a powerful impact during his first Model UN conference, being awarded the title of 2025 Model UN Premier First Year.

Model UN is currently one of the largest clubs at Saint Joe’s with 68 delegates across all grade levels. They attended the conference along with other delegations from the tri-state area and look forward to another successful season next winter.
