For the second year in a row, the Saint Joseph Wrestling team dominated the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament. 12 Falcons earned a medal, including four first place finishes en route to the team’s second consecutive county championship.

Saint Joe’s finished the tournament with 263.5 team points, over 60 points more than No. 2 Monroe.

Brian Christie ‘24 led the way, winning his second GMC Championship. He was joined on top of the podium by first-time winners John Whitacre ‘24, Andrew Bouchard ‘25 and Tyler Whitford ‘26.

Nico DeRado ‘27, Morgan Schwarz ‘26 and Sebastian Blumberg ‘25 each took second place, with Julian Arango ‘26 and Mason Atkins ‘26 placing third, Danny Internoscia ‘25 and Jason Gross ‘26 taking fourth and Giovanni Spallino ‘25 bringing home the fifth place medal.

The Falcons are in the final stretch of the season, with the NJSIAA Team Wrestling Tournament scheduled to begin on February 6. Saint Joe’s earned the No. 9 seed in the Non-Public A bracket and will visit Seton Hall Prep.

This will be the third meeting between the two squads. Earlier this season, the Falcons defeated the Pirates, 47-21, at the Catholic School Duals. Seton Hall Prep avenged the loss a week later, 31-22.
