METUCHEN, NJ - Saint Joseph High School invites all alumni, parents and friends to the Third Annual Green Tie Gala on November 5 at The Heldrich in New Brunswick.
Proceeds from the event will be directed to The Saint Joseph Annual Fund, allowing the school to continue its tradition of excellence in educating and forming young men. The Saint Joseph Annual Fund supports essential areas of the Saint Joseph journey, including academics, clubs & activities, and athletics. The Fund also provides scholarship and need-based financial assistance to allow deserving young men to experience the Saint Joe's journey.
During the Gala, Kevin M. Ryan ‘85, president and CEO of Covenant House International, will be awarded the Father André Coindre Service Award for his decades of service making the world a better place for today’s youth.
“Saint Joe’s is very proud of the work that Kevin Ryan has done at Covenant House,” President John G. Nolan, Jr. said. “Through his leadership, countless lives have changed for the better. Kevin is one of many distinguished alumni that lives by the teachings of Christ. He is a role model for all Falcons, past, present and future. Kevin embodies the charism of Father André Coindre and there is no one more deserving of this award.
Under Ryan’s leadership, Covenant House has seen the largest period of expansion, renovation, and renewal in its history, stretching across 34 cities in six countries and reaching tens of thousands of children and youth annually.
Covenant House has been recognized with several of the world’s most distinguished human rights awards, including the Conrad Hilton Humanitarian Award, the WOLA Human Rights Prize and the Olof Palme Peace Prize.
“Saint Joe’s opened the world,” Ryan said. “The Brothers taught me to stretch and aspire, to be faithful and nurture a heart for others. At the most formative time in my life, these men of God and their colleagues accompanied me across a bridge from boyhood to the adventure of life.”
The Third Annual Green Tie Gala will begin with cocktail hour at 6 p.m., with dinner, dancing and celebration to follow. Entertainment will be led by The Infernos, the No. 1 showband in New Jersey, as well as Will Fern ‘82, the International Champion of Strolling Magic.
