Edison Rotary Seniors of the Month - April 2022

Edison Rotary Seniors of the Month - April 2022
Tim LeCras

The Edison Rotary Seniors of the Month for April 2022 are Elijah Levantino and Michael Weikum.

Elijah Levantino

Elijah Levantino is a proud member of the graduating Class of 2022 at St. Joseph High School in Metuchen. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Science NHS, a recipient of English excellence, and 3 President’s List awards. He is part of the Campus Ministry and serves as a Eucharistic Minister in school. Eli serves as a mentor to fellow students and volunteers at a soup kitchen every Sunday. Along with a love of music, drawing, and video gaming, he has grown to know the importance of academic achievements, commitment, and community service, thereby pursuing studies of medicine and science this Fall.

Michael Weikum

The aspiring, passionate, and genteel offspring of Polish parents, who immigrated to the United States in 1993, Michael Weikum is one who strives above and beyond to display the epitome of a zealous Saint Joseph High School young man. Whether it be through his efforts as a recurring member of Congressman Frank Pallone’s Youth Advisory Council, desire in collaborating with multi-continent volunteer organizations, athletic capabilities while being apart of his national club volleyball team, or a member in over 10 in-school clubs, to say that Michael is one who yearns to engage himself in all that is provided and concurrently impact any and all surrounding others is an understatement. One day, Michael dreams of pursuing a career in Aerospace Engineering and colonizing Mars. He states, “Without the blend of an individualized aptitude and an inclusive, collaborative environment, ingenuity is forgotten. We must continue to work together as the human species to advance amongst untraversed limits.” Amidst all of his professional successes, Michael nevertheless permits his childhood to keep his mind stimulated and body feeling jaunty. From a young age, he has actively involved himself in mountain climbing, skiing, jogging, kayaking, parachuting, and surfing. Michael is most grateful to his parents, teachers, and older brother, Damian Weikum, for serving as his eternal incentives. Above all, Michael holds service undeniably closest to his heart, stating that he owes his greatest personality traits due to his impactful work in Huacas, Costa Rica with CEPIA, Saint Vincent De Paul Food Pantry, Saint Ambrose Parish, and the synthesis of Campus Ministry/JusticeWorX.
