Saint Joseph is an all-boys, private, Catholic, College Preparatory School, located on 77 acres in Metuchen, New Jersey.
We understand that your son’s high school education is an important decision, and we appreciate that you are considering Saint Joe’s. Please know that as we review each applicant for admission we take a comprehensive and holistic approach.
Admissions overview
Saint Joseph is operated by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, who have been active in American education since their arrival from Lyons, France in 1847. The faculty consists of exceptional lay and religious educators with over 80% holding advanced degrees. Saint Joseph admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin or creed and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and by the National Association of Independent Schools.

freshman for a day
Freshman for a Day allows current 7th and 8th graders to experience what the Brotherhood is like by going through the schedule of an assigned guide.
Prospective students will get the opportunity to conduct their student interview at the end of their visit.
Freshman For A Day for current 8th graders begins September 19, 2022 and for current 7th graders begins March 6, 2023.

All prospective students are required to participate in a formal student interview with one of our Partners in Mission.
All Freshmen for a Day participants will have the chance to do a sit down interview at the end of their visit. Otherwise, please email Mrs. Kaloyerakis at skaloyerakis@stjoes.org or call (732) 549-7600 x221 to set up an interview time.

As a part of the admissions process, Saint Joseph will need access to final grades and test scores for the 6th and 7th grades, as well as current grades and test scores for the 8th grade year. You can submit the form below to your current school.
fall prep course
The Saint Joseph High School Entrance Exam Prep Course prepares applicants for the Saint Joseph High School Entrance Exam. Saint Joseph High School uses this test to determine admission into the school, placement into college prep, honors, and AP courses, and scholarship eligibility.
Students will learn specific test taking strategies and acquire greater expertise in verbal and mathematical skills. Students will benefit by instruction from Saint Joseph High School faculty who will prepare them for the demands of this exam.

Students interested in applying to Saint Joseph High School for the 9th Grade must complete the Saint Joseph High School Entrance Exam.
Saint Joseph High School is an independent school and administers its own entrance exam.
Exam results from other schools will not be accepted.

transfer/international students
Saint Joseph accepts transfer students into the 9th, 10th and 11th grades. We also accept a limited number of International Students each year.
