Our Mission - In
response to the mission of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, St.
Joseph High School
exists to provide a college preparatory, liberal arts education for young men
in the traditions of the Catholic Church. We seek to make young men resilient
and unafraid to pray.
An
amazing seventy-six percent of last year’s senior class received college
scholarships totaling over $24 million. In the past five years our seniors have
earned over $79 Million in college scholarships.
Ten students of the class of ’09 were accepted
to Ivy League institutions.
SAT
scores of St. Joe’s students far outpace state and local averages: this year
585M, 573V, 564W
St.
Joe’s offers Advanced Placement (AP) courses in 9 different academic
disciplines, and over 400 exams were administered during the ’08-’09 academic
year.
St.
Joe’s academic teams (College Bowl, Mathematics, Robotics, Computers) annually
earn state, regional and national recognition.
The
Falcon Newspaper as well as the
literary magazine the Vignette
received national honors.
St. Joe’s inducted 45
students from the Class of 2010 into its Vox Sapientiae Chapter of the National
Honor Society, which requires a 3.9 GPA and a commitment to service, leadership
and character. We also have honor
societies in Language, Science and Art.
This
fall, football joins the array of athletic teams, which total 13 varsity teams and many junior varsity and freshmen
teams that compete the “St. Joe’s Way”.
There are a total of 54 clubs
and activities that complement the strong academic environment, offering talented students
countless opportunities for challenge and growth.
Community service is
emphasized at St. Joe’s. During the past
academic year, $16,000 was raised during the Thanksgiving Food Drive to feed
over 400 families. Over 10,000 hours of community service were performed by our
students.
The annual Christmas on
Campus played Santa to 75 disadvantaged children, and dress down days generated
$25,000 to local and statewide charities as well as missions of the Brothers of
the Sacred Heart.
Fully 10% of St. Joe’s 800
students receive financial aid to offset their tuition costs – largely with
funds generated through the Annual Fund.
St. Joe’s also awards several partial scholarships from its endowment.
